British F3 Action Heads For Croft
This weekend (May 1st and 2nd) sees rounds five and six of the 2004 British F3 Championship gripped by Avon Tyres visit Croft Circuit for the first of three headline events this summer at the North Yorkshire track.
With a superb line-up of supporting races as well as the UK's premier single seater championship, the Bank Holiday weekend event promises to be an exciting spectacle for local fans who will get the chance to see Grand Prix stars of the future in action.
Leading the championship is Nelson Piquet Junior who is aiming to emulate his father's achievements in winning the Formula One World Championship. The young Brazilian has yet to win a race this year but has shown remarkable consistency by finishing on the rostrum in all three races to date.
With the last round washed out at Silverstone, plenty of other drivers will be keen to stamp their mark on proceedings at Croft including Britain's James Rossiter, Irishman Adam Carroll and Monegasque resident Clivio Piccione, all of whom have won a race so far this season.
Whilst the two feature races will take centre stage, the support races will provide the usual share of spills and thrills, none more so than the Carlube TVR Challenge drivers. The awesome noise of these powerful V8 machines coupled with some uncompromising driving makes them popular with the crowd and these will be out in two races also.
Also in action on Sunday will be drivers contesting the UK Formula Ford Championship, Volkswagen Racing Cup and the AVO Ginetta Championship whilst Saturday will see races for the Dunlop Radical Enduro Championship and the Matador Tyres Radical Biduro Championship also.
Saturday's action starts with qualifying from 9.15 and the first of five races commences at 12.10. Sunday will see racing from 12.10 with a total of nine races during the course of the afternoon.
Adult admission costs £10 on Saturday and £20 on Sunday with accompanied children under 15 admitted free and Grandstand seating costs an extra £7. Further information is available from Claire Jones on 01325 721815.
