Clivio Piccione confirms British F3 seat with Manor Motorsport.
British Formula 3 Scholarship Class runner up, Clivio Piccione has confirmed his championship class seat for 2003 with former championship winners, Manor Motorsport.
After testing with several championship teams for his 2003 seat, a final decision was concluded during today's successful test at Rockingham. Clivio outpaced all other drivers by one second for the mornings wet test sessions and continued to head up the times as the track dried out during the afternoon.
"We have considered other teams for a suitable seat in 2003 but John (Booth) and his team have been very professional during testing so far. Clivio has settled in quickly with the team and his string of successful test times at Croft and Rockingham have given us good reason to move to Manor Motorsport for the 2003 season". Jim Warren from Haywood Management commented.
"Clivio has shown promise during this years scholarship class entry and has certainly shown off his abilities during testing so far. We are looking forward to a successful year with Clivio in the 2003 championship class". John Booth, Manor Motorsport
Clivio showed superb driver aptitude during his first year of slicks and wings racing to finish the 2002 season in second place having taken three class wins and an impressive 14 podiums visits.
On the way to his final championship position Clivio made his intentions clear whilst battling with more experienced drivers from the championship class coming out on top with outright fastest lap on more than one occasion and a brace of top flight results.
Clivio will now have a full test programme with Manor Motorsport in the Dallara F302 Mugen-Honda ahead of the 2003 season opener when he will be a front-runner and serious challenger for the championship title.
