CLEAN SWEEP AT BRANDS HATCH!
Brackley, UK -- 14 July 2008: Brands Hatch set the scene yesterday for T-Sport's best result ever when they took the overall victory in race two, along with a 1-2 in the National Class in the second of the weekend's two rounds of the British F3 International Series.
All three T-Sport drivers took solid points finishes in race one but it was in race two that they all shone. Sergio Perez, starting from second on the grid, hi-jacked the pole position man and set off in the lead. He didn't look back and took a classic lights-to-flag victory which puts him level on points at the top of the Championship table with Carlin's Jaime Alguersuari.
"It's fantastic for the whole team to be back and winning in both classes," said a delighted Perez. "They've done a perfect job so I'm very happy for them. We are only in the middle of the season though so we need to keep pushing because this is our chance to win. It's going to be a battle as this Championship is so strong we can't afford to make a single mistake."
In the National Class, Steven Guerrero, made a great start from his first pole position of the year and led all the way to the flag, setting fastest lap along the way. The Colombian driver has come on in leaps and bounds in recent races so these are exciting times for him.
"The team gave me a really good car," said Steven. "I had a bad start in the first race and it is hard to pass here so I made sure I got away well from pole position in race two and kept the lead all the way."
Salman Al Khalifa, after a couple of difficult events, is back in the hunt after two good finishes at Brands Hatch. His second place in race two completed the set for T-Sport.
"It's good to be back on the podium," he said. "It's a great day for T-Sport and I want to thank my team-mates for pushing me along, especially Steven who is on top form now. I wanted to do a good job and bag some points and now I am looking forward to Spa."
"I'm really pleased with the result," said Team Principal, Russell Eacott. "It was an amazing team effort and I don't know how you can beat that! All three drivers drove a fantastic race and what we must do now is keep up the hard work and keep on fighting."
