Kerr decimates competition to make history at Brands Hatch.

Brands Hatch, Kent UK (Sunday March 31 2002) - Britains leading Formula Three driver Robbie Kerr stamped his authority on in the first round of the British Formula 3 championship when he drove his Mugen Honda powered Alan Docking Racing Dallara F302 to a resounding win.

Starting from the outside of the front row of the grid, Robbie beat pole sitter James Courtney on the run into Paddock Hill bend. By the end of the first lap the British star had built up a 0.717 second advantage over the Australian.

Through out the subsequent 9 laps Kerr kept the gap with in a few tenths and setting a brace of fastest laps in the process when a hard charging Courtney had a moment into westfield opening the gap up to 9.385 seconds.

A jubilant Kerr was to take honours and make history as the first ever reigning Scholarship class champion to take an overall victory.

"We were fast all through testing" said the triumphant Kerr, "I am really pleased for the team as we knew we could do it."

Robbie lines up in the same place for round two tomorrow (Monday) and now has the psychological advantage.
