Performance Racing's Frankie Cheng wins at Brands Hatch!
Performance Racing's Frankie Cheng dominated the British F3 National Class field this weekend in Brands Hatch, taking two pole positions, two victories, and two fastest laps at the famous British track.
The Chinese driver was flawless all weekend, but had to work very hard on both races, as he fought to keep championship rival Sergio Perez behind him in the first race, and his own team mate Ricardo Teixeira in the second one! He was rewarded by moving back into the championship lead, together with Perez.
Hamad Al Fardan's weekend didn't get off to a good start, as he was hit by food poisoning early on. The Bahrani driver qualified in 4th place for the two races, but had his times from the first session removed due to an incident under yellow flags. His weekend was salvaged by a 3rd position on the second race, his 5th visit to the podium this season.
Ricardo Teixeira, Performance Racing's only entrant in the Championship Class, finished both races in 15th place. After some problems in Free Practice the Angolan driver made some big improvements, which left the team's management and technical staff well pleased.
Team Manager Bobby Issazadhe commented on the weekend: "Frankie did a great job, and we're very happy to be back in the championship lead! Ricardo's weekend didn't start very well, but we really liked what we saw form him on both races. Once we sort some issues with him in qualifying he can start getting some regular points finishes."
Performance Racing now heads to Pembrey for two days of testing, after which the team will head to the classic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, for rounds 13 and 14 of the British Formula 3 International Series.
