Álvaro Parente faces Silverstone with optimism
The driver supported by the Luis Figo Foundation, Álvaro Parente, leaves with renewed optimism for the second race of the British F3 Championship, held in Silverstone during the next weekend (April 17/18th), after a sensational season debut at Donington Park. During the qualifying for the two first races, Parente managed to obtain a pole position and a second place on the starting grid, even though, luck wasn't on his side during both races, when he finished in eighth and tenth.
"The final results on the first two races didn't correspond to the expectations we had, when taking under consideration the performances showed during the qualifying sessions and the pre-season testing, where I was amongst the fastest. Nevertheless, during the first race, I was run over by another car and went off-track, loosing allot of positions, and recovering as much as I could up to the end. On the second race I had tyre problems, which led me to loose valuable time to my adversaries, lap after lap, in an inexplicable manner. The Team concluded that the ones we had used weren't in perfect conditions, situation which had already happened during a testing session", recollects the driver from the Luis Figo Foundation.
With Donington Park behind his back, Álvaro Parente wants to translate into results, the good performances he has been experiencing since the season's debut with his Dallara-Mugen Honda from Carlin Motorsport:
"As I've been regularly amongst the fastest, I am betting on being able perform well at Silverstone, finishing on the top five or even higher. Having faith on my engineer's words, I think we will have a competitive car for that track."
Championship Standings (after 2 races):
1º, Nelson Piquet, 31 points; 2º, Adam Carroll, 21; 3º, Clivio Piccione, 20; 4º, Ernesto Viso, 16; 5º, James Rossiter, 15; ... 11º, Álvaro Parente, 4.
