Tagliani enters Blancpain Endurance with Zakspeed
Blancpain Endurance newcomer squad Zakspeed has announced Champ Car race winner Alex Tagliani as part of its line-up for the 2016 season.
Tagliani, 42, will pilot the team's Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 alongside fellow Canadian Jean-Frederic Laberge and Vancouver-born Darryl O'Young.
"We have a great car with outstanding drivers and I am sure we will be in for one or two surprises this year," said Zakspeed team boss Peter Zakowski. "The Blancpain Series is still pretty new to us, but I am confident we will all start working well together, making good progress."
Tagliani, the winner of the 2004 Champ Car race at Road America and the poleman for the 2011 Indy 500, has previous GT racing experience from the now-defunct Rolex Sports Car Series.
Laberge, also 42, is the 2012 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada champion, while 35-year-old O'Young claimed the Asian GT title last year.
"I am very excited to be part of this prestigious team," said Tagliani. "I cannot wait to explore Europe and drive on some of the most famous race tracks in the world."
