Marcus Mahy has undergone surgery after his crash during the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
53 year-old British racer Marcus Mahy is progressing after his vicious collision with fellow Ferrari driver Vadim Kogay during the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. He was taken to a local hospital via helicopter after being extracted from the car.
After being awoken from a medically-induced coma, he was responding well to various medical tests. It was reported that surgery would be needed on his neck, but other details were not divulged. The following statement from the SRO gives more positive news on his improving conditions.
"Marcus Mahy, driver of the #111 Kessel Racing Ferrari, transported to the CHU hospital in Liege, during the course of the 2014 Total 24 Hours of Spa, underwent successful surgery yesterday and continues to make good progress."
"His family would like to thank everybody for all their support and good wishes."
