Pennsylvanian Marc Breuers paced the field in the opening practice for the 11th of 12 rounds in the 2001 Barber Dodge Pro Series at the Molson Indy Vancouver. The opening 30-minute session saw Breuers in the No. 94 Sunoco Special Dodge Reynard lap the 1.781-mile temporary street circuit in 1:16.337 sec. for an average of 83.991 mph. Remarkably that time is only four-tenths of a second slower than the pole time set last year by Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Second quickest in the morning practice was Dutchman Sepp Koster (1:16.707 sec.) followed by rookie Jon Morley (1:16.708) in his first appearance at the Concord Pacific Place Circuit. Roger Yasukawa (1:16.725) and another rookie in the form of Akihira Okamoto (1:16.916) rounded out the fast five.

The first of two qualifying sessions takes place later this afternoon. As rain clouds have continued to waltz through the Vancouver region, today's session takes on greater than normal significance as all of the Barber Dodge drivers will be eager to post a fast time in the event that rains spoil the final qualifying session scheduled for Saturday morning.

Live timing for today's qualifying at 4:00 p.m. PDT will be available at barberdodge.com.
