TORONTO, ONT -- July 7, 2002: Canadian racer Josh Beaulieu had a promising race end in disappointment on Sunday, after making contact the wall on lap 12 of the 29-lap Barber Dodge Pro Series event. This followed a titanic battle for 5th place with fellow Canadian Dan Di Leo.
"This is the second race in a row where we we've left in disappointment," said Beaulieu. "After getting hit from behind in Portland, I was looking for a solid finish here in Toronto. Unfortunately I made a mistake in the heat of battle, and just grazed the apex wall in turn 4 after the hairpin. That was enough to break my left front suspension and send me back into the wall a second time. It's tough since I wanted to do a good job for my new sponsors Razor Magazine and Performance Racing News, but I am looking forward to making it up when we get to Cleveland this weekend.
"The positive side is that we are getting very close to getting on the podium. I was 2nd quickest in the warm-up, and during the race I was running as quick as the top three even though I was caught up in traffic."
Round 6 of the 2002 Barber Dodge Pro Series is with the CART event in Cleveland on July 12-14. This will be followed by Beaulieu's first ever home race, at the Vancouver Molson Indy weekend, July 26-28.
The Laguna Seca and Portland races from earlier this season will air of the will air on SpeedChannel on July 20 and 27, respectively. For series results and info, click on www.barberdodge.com.
