Beaulieu finishes 7th in CART Barber Dodge debut.
SEBRING, FLORIDA -- March 16, 2002: Canadian racer Josh Beaulieu has continued to show potential, notching a 7th place finish in his first career CART Barber Dodge race. The season-opening round was held prior to the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida on Saturday, in front of a record crowd.
Beaulieu looks set to continue his momentum from last year. In the 2001 Canadian Formula Ford Series, he won 3 races, led the most laps, and received Driver of the Year honors. Following that, Beaulieu competed in the 4-race UK Formula Renault Winter Series.
"I knew that last week was going to be a huge challenge," commented Beaulieu. "Before Tuesday I had only one day of testing in the Reynard-Dodge, and I've never seen the full Sebring circuit before. Considering the depth and experience of the Barber Dodge field, I am pleased with ending the weekend on such a positive note. Now that I've got a race weekend under my belt, my goal is to keep progressing steadily and to start filling the mirrors of the top few guys as the season progresses. Hopefully we will be able to put on a good show at the three Canadian Molson Indy's.hspace
"I want to thank my sponsors -- especially CPM Vancouver, Mr. Bob Allaire, and Dowco.com -- for helping me get to this point. Now I have a chance to continue up the ladder toward CART. I've got a job to do in Barber Dodge, and I intend on pushing as hard as I can."
The next CART Barber Dodge race is May 27 in Lime Rock, Connecticut. Each of the 10 rounds will air on SpeedChannel, reaching over 50 million homes in North America, and the FOX network is also distributing the broadcasts internationally. For series results and info, click on www.barberdodge.com.
