Round 9 of the 2003 Barber Dodge Pro Series, held at the Mid Ohio Sports Course, kicked off with a practice session on Friday morning. After two consecutive street course race weekends, the young rookie from Hawaii commented that he is "happy to be racing at a road course facility again." After a solid performance in practice, Frisselle stated "Mid Ohio is one of two tracks that I have past experience at, and I look forward to a successful weekend."

Qualifying Session 1
Position Qualified: 3rd
Fastest Lap Time: 01:25.413

Frisselle drove exceptionally well in Friday afternoon's qualifying session, achieving a P3 finish for the second time this season. "The session went very well. We had a great set-up on the car, and I was able to execute my fast laps before the red flag near the end of the session," Frisselle stated. "I am thrilled to have qualified in the top three today."

Qualifying Session 2
Position Qualified: 8th
Fastest Lap Time: 01:25.485

Frisselle ran in the top four for most of Saturday morning's qualifying session, and was therefore disappointed with his P8 finish. "Unfortunately our strategy was thrown off by a late red flag, and I was unable to put in the fast laps that I was capable of," the young rookie from Hawaii commented. "After such a great performance yesterday, a P8 finish is frustrating. However, I believe that I can improve upon my position in the race."

Race
Position Started: 8th
Position Finished: 7th
Fastest Race Lap: 01:53.558

Saturday afternoon's race was one of the most challenging of the year given the wet conditions on what is a difficult and technical track. "Unfortunately we went with more of a dry set-up, thinking that the rain would clear out before it did, which only added to the challenge of the race" young Frisselle stated. Frisselle drove conservatively, stating that "due to the fact that Colin Fleming and I are tied in the battle for the Rookie of the Year, I knew that the race was more about finishing and earning as many points as possible." The young rookie executed a solid performance, advancing one position to finish seventh overall in a severely shortened race. "Although I was aiming to finish in the top five this weekend, I am very pleased that my 7th place finish has allowed me to take the points lead in the battle for Rookie of the Year. I look forward to Montreal, where I hope to challenge for a podium finish."
