Watkins Glen, NY (November 1, 2000) - Watkins Glen International President, Bryan Sperber, announced today that Scott Rovn, former Strategic Communications Manager for The Glen, has been promoted to Director of Sponsorship and Karen Gauthier, former Manager of Advertising and Promotions, has been promoted to Director of Communications. Both Rovn and Gauthier will report to the track President. Rovn and Gauthier will be assuming the duties of the track's former General Manager of Marketing & Sales, Roger Curtis. Curtis recently accepted a position as Senior Director of Marketing & Sales for Richmond International Raceway, a sister track of Watkins Glen in the International Speedway Corporation family of tracks. "I'm exceptionally pleased to be able to announce the promotions of two of our exceptional staff members," said Sperber. "Both Karen and Scott have earned this opportunity through their dedication and hard work. I'm confident that they both will continue to contribute greatly to The Glen's success in the future." Rovn, originally from Minnesota, has served as Communications Manager at the historic race track since June of 1998. "I've really enjoyed the last couple of years at The Glen and am tremendously excited to take on the challenges of a new position, " said Rovn. "Watkins Glen has been blessed with a great group of loyal sponsors and partners and I certainly look forward to continuing to develop an already outstanding piece of our business." Gauthier originally hails from Virginia Beach and took over Advertising and Promotions at Watkins Glen in January of 1999. "My experience at Watkins Glen has been fantastic and I'm very excited to begin handling new challenges," said Gauthier. "I look forward to continue the development of valuable relationships and working to provide first-class motorsports entertainment for our fans and corporate partners."
