VERNON, NY ^Ö The Utica-Rome Speedway on Route 5 in Vernon has released the 2002-version of the Pure Stock division rules.

For the most part, the rules will be unchanged from the 2001 season in order to keep the division competitive and stable, at the lowest possible cost to the competitors. However, there are several additions: 1) 9 inch Ford rear ends are highly recommended 2) OEM disc brakes are optional 3) All suspension parts must be of same make and model as original racecar. The rules may be found online at www.newuticaromespeedway.com/rules/purestockrules2002.html

In weekly competition on the freshly clayed half-mile oval during the 41st anniversary year of racing will be the DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks. The entire season will lead up to the running of the "New Yorker 150" for 358-Modifieds on September 15.
