Turbines, Inc. renews "Checkered Flag Awards" for 2002

Turbines, Inc. of Terre Haute, Ind. has announced continuation of their popular "Checkered Flag Awards" for USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car competitors in 2002.

The Turbines awards, which mark the sixth consecutive year of USAC affiliation for the company, will result in more than $10,000 in total awards, with each series fast qualifier receiving at least $300 in cash. The fast qualifier cash award is increased to $500 per event during the annual "Indiana Sprint Week" races in July.

The awards are courtesy of longtime USAC Sprint car driver and car entrant Jim Mills, President of Turbines, Inc. Mills was honored at last year's USAC National Awards Dinner as the recipient of the prestigious USAC Individual Special Recognition Award for his devotion to USAC and its participants.

"As a Sprint car competitor I realize the effort extended to compete on the USAC level and the accomplishment of posting the fastest qualifying time at a USAC race," said Mills. "I'm pleased to be able to again offer this incentive to USAC's participants."

The Turbines, Inc. "Checkered Flag Awards" for 2001 are being presented to driver Tracy Hines and car entrants Jeff Walker and Bob Gratton at tonight's USAC National Awards Dinner in Indianapolis.
