Tim Irwin named Director of Contingency and Inside Sales
NORWALK, Ohio (April 6, 2004) -- IHRA President Bill Bader announced Tim Irwin has been named Director of Contingency and Inside Sales. Irwin joins IHRA from Undercover Chassis in Wildwood, Fla., where he was Customer Service Manager.
"I am excited about joining the IHRA team," said Irwin. "I look forward to expanding on IHRA's strong contingency program with excellent customer service and growth. My previous work with Worthy and Undercover has given me the necessary experience to take this department to the next level."
"Tim comes to the IHRA with considerable industry knowledge and a strong technical sales background," said Bader. "He is highly customer service driven and his working knowledge of the manufacturing side of the market makes him a very good fit for IHRA.
"He brings a unique perspective to the position. He's been a racer and understands the racer's needs, but he also has worked in the manufacturing side and can relate to their needs and expectations as well."
Irwin has worked with two highly respected chassis builders in the drag racing market: Ben Worthy (Worthy Race Cars) and Kurt Damron (Undercover Chassis). He also had his own chassis fabrication shop prior to working for Worthy.
Irwin worked many years for Owens-Illinois as a Field Service Engineer. He worked in the company's Toledo research and development facility on packaging products and processes.
He has had a lifelong love with drag racing as a competitor. He left Owens-Illinois to open a chassis shop in Lakeland, Fla., which he operated for several years before accepting an offer to join Worthy Race Cars as the Customer Service Manager and overseeing the shop operations. He worked for the Worthys for 3-1/2 years before joining Undercover Chassis in a similar position in mid-2001.
Irwin is a native of the northwest Ohio community of Holland (a Toledo suburb). He will be headquartered in the Norwalk, Ohio, office and assumes the position immediately.
