DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2000) -- Thatsracin.com and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) have formed a partnership that will provide free voting for the Most Popular Driver Award in 2000. Voting for the award, administered by the NMPA and traditionally beginning in July, will continue to be available through a 900 number.

"I think online voting for the Most Popular Driver Award will be immensely popular among the motor sports fans," said Thatsracin.com Editor Stan Kleine. "The traffic drawn to the site by the award will give the NMPA the ability to showcase its works for a large audience."

Thatsracin.com, the largest independent online motor sports site, also has entered into an agreement to build the NMPA's official Web site. The new site, expected to launch in July, will feature information about the NMPA, examples of award-winning motor sports journalism and photojournalism, as well as the organization's Hall of Fame.

"This is something the NMPA has needed for a long time," said NMPA President Jim McLaurin. "Not only does it give racing fans a central site to view some of the work of our members, it gives our members a valuable tool for the rapid communication that's necessary to keep up with the fast pace of racing."

Added Kleine: "We are excited about the challenges and opportunities this new Web partnership affords us and look forward to a long, productive relationship with NMPA."
