CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Sept. 25, 2000) - Long hours, a high-pressure working environment and performance reviews in under 15 seconds. If one accepts these requirements, The Home Depot Racing Team seeks one crew member for the Nov. 5 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. Apply at Ultimatebid.com.
Thanks to The Home Depot and Ultimatebid.com (www.ultimatebid.com), one lucky race fan and a guest will join Home Depot Pontiac driver Tony Stewart and the #20 Winston Cup team for a behind-the-scenes experience at the Checker Auto Parts/Dura Lube 500k.
Bidding for the all-access package that includes pit and garage area passes begins on Sept. 25 and lasts through Oct. 2 on Ultimatebid.com. The winner will also receive an authentic crew jersey and headset, as they will be allowed to be an honorary crew member of the Home Depot Racing Team. The winner and their guest will view the race shoulder to shoulder with Home Depot Racing crew members from behind the pit wall.
"I don't think fans can get enough of this sport," said Stewart, "but for the person who wins this deal, it might just change all that - at least for them and whoever they decide to bring with them. It'll be a pretty cool experience for them. Not everybody can get that close to a Winston Cup team. Plus, the proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. So, it's really a win-win deal all around."
Habitat for Humanity is the longtime philanthropic endeavor of The Home Depot, where the company's resources are used to help build affordable housing in communities which The Home Depot serves. Currently, The Home Depot is working with 97 Habitat affiliates to help make the dream of home ownership a reality.
Since its launch earlier this year, Ultimatebid.com has auctioned off a number of packages to benefit charity and non-profit organizations. The Tiger Woods Foundation, Women's Sports Foundation and United Cerebral Palsy are just a few of the charities that have received donations as a result of auctions on the site.
