RadioShack and Samsung new sponsor of Nascar Winston Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway
FORT WORTH-DALLAS (January 8, 2002) - Texas Motor Speedway today announced Fort Worth-based RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) and Dallas-based Samsung Telecommunications America have signed as new promotional partners of the speedway. The three-year promotional partnership kicks off with the April 7, 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup race, which will be named the Samsung/RadioShack 500.
"This event is one of the highlights of the season. It draws more than 200,000 fans, has the second-highest television ratings of the year, and pays out one of the biggest winner's paychecks of the year - second only to the Daytona 500," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Partnering with RadioShack and Samsung will help to make this event even better. We are pleased to have these locally-based companies sponsor one of America's biggest sporting events as they make their entrance into motorsports with Texas Motor Speedway."
The Samsung/RadioShack 500 gives both companies the opportunity to extend current sports marketing initiatives to a broader demographic. The partnership also complements RadioShack's and Samsung's ongoing efforts to enhance strategic business relationships while providing tangible benefits and services to consumers.
