DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (March 25 2001) - Officials for the National Association For Stock Car Auto Racing, NASCAR, and the Quaker Oats Company, through their product Gatorade, the official sports beverage of NASCAR, announced a new award program at Mobile International Speedway for competitors with the 2001 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring.
The new award will divide $1,500 between the top three finishers in each Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring event and will be known as the Gatorade Championship Performance Award.
The winning driver at each event will receive $1,000 in addition to the race posted awards with the second place driver receiving $300. The third place driver will receive $200.
"We are very fortunate to have a company like Quaker Oats, with their Gatorade brand, supporting NASCAR throughout all of our divisions as well as being the title sponsor of one of our nine regional touring series," said Chris Boals, NASCAR Director Regional Touring Series. "Gatorade is a brand that is recognized worldwide and for them to post the Gatorade Championship Performance Award in addition to their Gatorade Front Runner Award shows a very strong commitment to NASCAR and the series that carries their name. All Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring competitors will benefit from this program."

"This program will not only reward drivers for excellence at each series event but it will help them maintain a steady course toward the series championship at the end of the season."
"This is a tremendous boost for everyone connected with the series this year," commented 2000 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Champion Billy Bigley Jr. "Posting this award for each race will certainly help many teams during the year and will give everyone added incentive in competing for the 2001 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship."
Drivers will be required to display the Gatorade Patch on their driver uniforms and carry the Gatorade Decal on their race car to be eligible for this award.
The Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring is one of nine NASCAR Touring Series that blanket the United States, bringing special events to many NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks and some NASCAR superspeedways and road courses. NASCAR Touring Series can provide a competitor with an entire career, or they can provide valuable experience to competitors moving through the NASCAR ranks. Corporate sponsors make significant contributions to NASCAR Touring Series point funds. The sponsors include R. J.
