SONOMA, Calif. - Sara Grafals has been named as Controller at Sears Point Raceway, track officials announced. Grafals will oversee all financial activities at the raceway, as well as human resources, ticketing and information systems.
Grafals comes to Sears Point Raceway after working at Symantec in Cupertino (Calif.) as Manager of Revenue and Collections. Previously, Grafals worked in Birmingham (Ala.) as Controller at Molton, Allen & Williams, a mortgage banking and insurance company. Grafals, a certified public accountant, received her degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Troy State University in Troy (Ala.).
"This is a critical time for our company as we develop the business infrastructure to manage the new Sears Point facility," said Steve Page, President and General Manager at Sears Point Raceway. "We are fortunate to have someone of Sara's caliber to manage that effort."
Grafals comes to Sears Point Raceway at an exciting time as the facility embarks on a $35 million modernization plan that will transform the raceway into one of the premier motor racing and entertainment venues in the country. Some of the plans include sponsorable fan venues, permanent garage facilities, pedestrian tunnels, improved roadways to reduce traffic congestion and construction of scenic hillside terrace seats.
"With this comprehensive modernization plan taking place, this is certainly an exciting time to be at Sears Point Raceway," Grafals said, "I'm looking forward to being part of this tremendous team and getting started in my new position."
Grafals and her husband, Tony, reside in Redwood City.
