CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Scott Fraser, an outstanding newcomer to the ranks of the American Speed Association (ASA), has signed a long-term contract with Performance PR Plus Inc. to manage the driver's future appearance, licensing and endorsement opportunities and public relations activities. Performance PR Plus is the Charlotte-based firm that manages public relations for three-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon, DuPont, Texaco/Havoline, and Winston Cup drivers Ricky Rudd and Ricky Craven. Also on the company's client list are Pepsi Cola, Toyota and AGREE Shampoo/Conditioner. No stranger to the checkered flag, Fraser, 29, of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, has won championships in two Canadian sanctioning bodies. He has won numerous races and received many other honors throughout the Maritime Provinces and in New England and Florida. "I'm very happy to be aligned with Performance PR Plus," said Fraser. "I know the company has a history of success and integrity, and I feel really comfortable having their personnel help me further develop my career." Fraser made his first ASA start in Chicago in July and received immediate attention by winning the outside front row starting position, leading 19 laps and finishing eighth. Fraser since has started three more ASA races in his King Racing No. 00 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, never finishing out of the top 10 and leading each race, with victory barely escaping him in Milwaukee where he finished third. He has completed every possible lap of those four races. The only other driver to attain that feat is Gary St. Amant, the series points leader. Fraser himself is the only driver to have led all four of those races. Overall, in his four ASA starts - at Chicago, Jennerstown, Toledo and Milwaukee - Fraser has two outside poles and finishes of eighth, eighth, fifth and third. His next ASA start will be on Sept. 23 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Fraser's ASA operation is fielded by Roland MacDonald, himself a former driver in the Maritime Provinces, New England and Florida. MacDonald, of Pictou, Nova Scotia, is the owner of King Freight Lines. Performance PR Plus also has been retained by SFI, a group of Nova Scotia investors, to seek sponsorship for the ASA program of Fraser and MacDonald.
