SCCA Hall of Fame structure formalized - First Class will be inducted at 2005 Convention
TOPEKA, Kan. (April 27, 2004) -- Sports Car Club of America, Inc. today formalized its Hall of Fame nomination and induction process as well as selection committees.
The SCCA Hall of Fame formation was announced at the 2004 SCCA National Convention February 7 with a mission "to preserve, protect, recognize and record SCCA's accomplishments and history for current and future members through recognizing and honoring dedicated and loyal members who have made significant contributions to the development of Sports Car Club of America and its goals."
Any individual contributing to the SCCA's success, be it in a service or competition capacity, is eligible.
"I had the privilege to announce the formation of the Hall of Fame earlier this year," SCCA President and CEO Steve Johnson said. "As this project is crucial to protecting and preserving our rich history and tradition, I asked for volunteers for our Hall of Fame committees.
"I am pleased to announce the members of the three committees."
The Nominating Committee will accept nominations from the membership until August 1. Nominations should be kept to two pages or less, and indicate the background/reasons for consideration.
The Nominating Committee will forward a list of 25 nominees no later than October 1 to the Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee will consider the nominees and decide on 10 Inaugural Inductees (five for subsequent years) by November 15. The Inaugural Class will be inducted at the 2005 SCCA National Convention.
