HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Sept. 29) – Rob Katz has been named Director of Marketing and Communications at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Katz, 29, joins the Speedway after working for two years as the Senior Director of Merchandising and Promotions for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Major League Baseball team.

"With his strong background in all phases of sports, Rob is an excellent addition to our team," said Curtis Gray, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway. "He’s already helping us prepare for our first NASCAR Winston Cup race on November 14, the inaugural Pennzoil 400."

Katz oversaw all aspects of merchandising, internet and promotions for the Devil Rays. He also assisted in the team’s marketing and advertising.

Following his graduation from the University of Florida in 1992, Katz worked for two years with the Florida Marlins and Pro Player Stadium, working in the public relations and business operations departments. He worked in sales and marketing for Nutmeg Mills from 1994 through 1997. He oversaw the national licensee’s sales and marketing in Florida, including working with the company’s launch efforts of Chase Authentics, a NASCAR licensee for apparel.

A native of South Florida, Katz resides in Pembroke Pines with his wife, Marla.
