RICHMOND, Va. -- (May 4, 2001) Richmond International Raceway has named the Virginia Lottery an official promotional partner and both parties have "Big Game" plans for this weekend's NASCAR events.
Elements of this new three-year agreement, which includes both May and September NASCAR weekends and the Indy Racing Northern Lights Series weekend in June, allows the Virginia Lottery to expand its on-site presence which currently includes displays and ticket booths.
"We know that NASCAR fans have always loved our products," said Virginia Lottery Executive Director, Penelope W. Kyle. "This is a way for us to give some added value to NASCAR and Virginia Lottery fans. It's a great way to promote our "Lotto Virginia" game and remind folks about the support the Lottery gives to Virginia public education," Kyle added.
The Virginia Lottery will have the opportunity to award several once in a lifetime experiences such as, having your photo taken with the winner in Victory Circle, pace car rides in the official Richmond International Raceway Pontiac pace car, and chances to attend the NASCAR driver's meetings. The Virginia Lottery will make these prizes available to fans through second chance promotions.
"Second chance promotions are a way for players to use non-winning tickets and qualify for another prize. The only difference, this type of 'qualifying' doesn't require fast driving, all you have to is fill out the back of your ticket and send it to us," said Kyle.*
"Richmond International Raceway is excited to expand our current partnership with the Virginia Lottery and take it to the next level," said Doug Fritz, President, Richmond International Raceway. "These once in a lifetime opportunities will allow fans to experience racing in a whole new way."
