Porsche has appointed Dr Oliver Blume to replace new Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller as chairman.
Blume, 47, will also take a position on the executive board as part of a huge restructuring in the corporate make-up of the VW Group.
The changes come as part of the knock-on effect caused by the emissions scandal which rocked the company last week.
Dr. Wolfgang Porsche paid tribute to departing chairman Matthias Muller, particularly for overseeing the return of Porsche to Le Mans and especially the 1-2 success in June.
"The 1-2 finish at the legendary Le Mans race with our 919 Hybrid technology platform was the icing on the cake," said Dr. Porsche.
In another significant move, Detlev von Platen, president and chief executive officer of Porsche Cars North America, will now take on the role of Porsche executive board for sales and marketing.
