Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. are delighted to announce a new long-term partnership, effective from this weekend's German Grand Prix. DoCoMo will become a Technical Partner of B.A.R and will be the Official Supplier of Circuit Wireless Communications Systems to the team.
DoCoMo is Japan's leading mobile communications company, having 44 million subscribers and being number one in terms of market share. The company has built on the success of its i-modeTM (mobile internet access) package to be the first company worldwide to offer 3G service based on W-CDMA, named FOMA (Freedom of Multimedia Access).
Commenting on the new partnership, B.A.R Team Principal David Richards said: "I am honoured to welcome DoCoMo to the team as a Technical Partner. Both parties are genuinely excited at the prospect of working together. DoCoMo can contribute considerably to the development of telecommunications solutions for both the car and the team. In return, DoCoMo will benefit from open access to a state-of-the-art application of that technology and, of course, an excellent marketing and promotional opportunity."
Keiji Tachikawa, President and CEO of NTT DoCoMo, said: "DoCoMo plans to apply and develop its world-leading telecommunications technology to meet the challenges posed by high-speed racing. We look forward to further developing reliable voice communications and two-way data telemetry that will overcome the problems of electronic noise and connection instability associated with that extreme environment. We hope and expect that our advanced technology will help B.A.R to succeed in Grands Prix. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with the B.A.R team."
