One of NHRA's most exciting competitions now titled the "Skoal Showdown".

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2003) -- The NHRA in conjunction with Skoal Racing today announced an agreement that will solidify Skoal Racing's participation in NHRA. Skoal Racing's NHRA sponsorship includes NHRA POWERade Drag Racing and its Skoal Showdown, as well as NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing.

Skoal Racing will continue its valued relationship with legendary drag racer Don "The Snake" Prudhomme's Snake Racing, along with Snake Racing's Ron Capps and Tommy Johnson Jr. Capps and Johnson pilot the Skoal Racing Green and Blue Funny Cars respectively in the NHRA.

The Skoal Showdown, which takes place each year during the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, features the year's eight best NHRA POWERade Funny Car qualifiers. Drivers accumulate points throughout the year to qualify for the Skoal Showdown. A race-day purse of $147,000 is available for the eight drivers competing in the Showdown, with the winner capturing the $100,000 top prize.

"Snake Racing has had a long and successful relationship with Skoal Racing," said Prudhomme. "Each year, Ron, Tommy and our Funny Cars are right there in the mix competing to win this exclusive competition, and I'm proud to see one of Snake Racing's primary sponsors assume the title sponsorship of the Skoal Showdown."

"NHRA Drag Racing is one of the most exhilarating sports in the nation," said Tom LoBosco, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) senior director, marketing promotions. "We are thoroughly excited to enhance and expand our relationship with NHRA and look forward to the continued growth of drag racing."

As a sponsor of NHRA POWERade and Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing, Skoal Racing will have an on-track presence at all 23 NHRA national events and all 10 Sport Compact events in 2004.

"We are thrilled to have Skoal Racing join our consortium of NHRA sponsors for 2004," said Bob Wagner, NHRA vice president of sales and business development. "Over the years, Skoal Racing has shown a tremendous amount of support and dedication to our sport and we're delighted about our new partnership."
