Round six of the 2001 MSA National Off-Road Championship, which takes place in the Tarkastad area of Border on August 10 and 11, is to be known as the Queen Motor Spares Tarka 400.

Well-known off-road competitor and leading contender in class A of the Special Vehicle category Greg Harvey, owner of Queen Motor Spares, has stepped in to sponsor the event that was previously known as the Kwikfit 400.

Harvey, who also owns Nissan and Toyota dealerships in Queenstown, has arranged an Expo at both dealerships on the Thursday evening prior to the event (August 9). Off-road racing fans will have the opportunity to see their favourite off-road vehicles at close quarters and to rub shoulders with their racing heroes. Videos of local and overseas off-road races will be shown.

The Queen Motor Spares 400 starts with a 35 km time trial in Tarkastad on Friday, which will determine the starting order for Saturday's 400 km race. The time trial starts at 10:00 and the race gets underway at 07:00 on Saturday.

The event is open to special vehicles, production vehicles, quads and motorcycles.
