New Jersey Motorsports Park Names Tim Hannen Kart Track Manager Experienced Competitor, Coach & Manager to Run World-Class F1 New Jersey
Millville, N.J. (June 9, 2008) -- New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP), announces the hiring of Tim Hannen as F1 New Jersey kart track manager. Hannen, a life-long competitive kart racer, also has extensive experience as a driver instruction and managing sports complexes. As track manager, he is responsible for the overall operations of the karting facility, including the hiring, training and management of staff.
NJMP's F1 New Jersey features multiple track configurations that provide different challenges to experienced racers and beginners alike, including the .48-mile Avenger, .53-mile Liberator and 1 mile-plus Tempest courses. Each configuration requires a different approach and varying speeds, and will accommodate everything from 9-hp Rimo concession karts for beginners and corporate events to 50-hp, 130 mph shifter karts for advanced competitors.
F1 New Jersey will provide a range of karting activities for all levels of racers. The F1 New Jersey Karting Academy will introduce and educate beginners, from 7-year old Juniors to first-time adult racers, about safe racing and kart-control techniques. F1 New Jersey will also sanction and organize a series of kart racing leagues for differing age classifications and weight groups, as well as provide a compelling venue for corporate entertainment events.
Hannen's karting career includes success at the highest levels nationally in Stars of Karting, Rotax RMax Challenge and WKA, highlighted by a 3rd place finish at the 2007 TAG World Championships in the 250cc class. He currently races for F1 Boston/SSC East, which is owned by NJMP principal RJ Valentine. Hannen is also a successful driving instructor, coach and tuner, working for a number of drivers who have successfully moved up the motorsports ladder to BMW F1, Skip Barber and Stars of Tomorrow series.
As a manager, he has experience as the Athletic Director and Ice Rink General Manager for the South Kent (CT) School; Assistant Rink Manager/Hockey Director for Big Bear Ice Arena (Denver, CO); and Sports Director for Bladium Sports Club (Denver, CO) where he was responsible for all marketing, staffing, scheduling, development and teaching both youth and adult programs. Hannen also helped design and open the Cherry Valley Motorsports Park, outside Syracuse, NY.
