New Egypt, NJ (Jan. 28) -- A powerful 2000 Ford F250 Supercab 4x4 XLT will be pacing the field at New Egypt Speedway this season, courtesy of Haldeman Ford, Hamilton, NJ. The Route 33 dealership has signed on as a corporate partner of the Central Jersey raceway, which is entering its third successful season as a clay motorsports facility under the Grosso family's ownership.
In addition to supplying a rough-and-rugged pace vehicle for New Egypt's Y2K campaign, Haldeman Ford will receive top billing as primary sponsor of the track's Night of Destruction 2000, featuring Monster Trucks and fireworks, on Monday, July 3. The big attraction will be the meanest, greenest Monster Truck known throughout the land -- the notorious Gravedigger, with wild-man driver Dennis Anderson at the controls. Anderson and Gravedigger are also scheduled to make a special appearance at the Haldeman Ford dealership from noon to 4 p.m. the Saturday prior to the July 3 special.
"It's exciting for us to get involved with racing at this level," said Haldeman Ford Sales Manager J.R. Battreall. "It's an up-and-coming sport and we're looking forward to introducing ourselves to the racing community and the local fans in the New Egypt area."
The partnership, engineered by Battreall and Rick Grosso, Sr. and Jr., marks the first auto racing involvement for Haldeman Ford in the car dealer's 26-year history. The Hamilton location, one of a group of dealerships under the Haldeman umbrella in Central Jersey and Pennsylvania, specializes in Ford trucks, up to 750 series.
New Egypt's new F250 pace truck, carrying the Haldeman colors, will lead Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock and Rookie Sportsman racers into the new season on opening day, April 1. The track will be open for a shakedown practice session a week prior, on Saturday, March 25. For further information, contact the speedway office at (609) 758-1900.
