FAIRFIELD, N.J. (August 16, 2000)-The U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speedvision today announced the signing of a three-year contract with Mickey Thompson® Performance Tires to supply Avon Racing Tyres for the series beginning in 2001.
Avon Racing Tyres, a subsidiary of Cooper Tires located in Melksham England, is a world class producer of open-wheel and formula racing tires. Mickey Thompson Performance Tires, a pioneer of performance and racing tires in the U.S., will provide full service to the teams for all ovals and road courses. The goal is to increase the visibility of Avon Racing Tyres while strengthening the position of the U.S. F2000 series as the premier training ground for open wheel drivers in the world.
“We are delighted to welcome Avon Tyres as the official tire and look forward to working with the Mickey Thompson team at all U.S. F2000 events for the next three years,“ said series co-owner Dan Andersen. “We are sad to see our relationship with our current tire supplier end, but this opportunity to work with Avon and Mickey Thompson was too good to pass up. The series has made tremendous progress over its 10 year history and we forsee this continuing over the next 3 years on Avon tyres.”

The U.S. F2000 National Championship resumes the 2000 season with rounds Nine and Ten at Watkins Glen International Raceway, August 26th and 27th, 2000.
