SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 8, 2001) - Motorsports fans will have a place to call home during the 2001 racing season as The New Ticket 1050 (KTCT-1050 AM) broadcasts "Start Your Engines," which will be hosted by Vallejo resident Tyler Potter. The show will run through November.

The one-hour program will air from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. each Saturday beginning February 10 and will feature some of the top names from NASCAR, NHRA Winston Drag Racing and other motorsports. The New Ticket 1050 is the only station in the Bay Area to devote a local one-hour show to motorsports.

"Auto racing has a very loyal audience and we're pleased to present the show again this year," said Lee Hammer, The New Ticket 1050 program director. "Tyler Potter brings the top names in racing to be guests."

Potter has a strong NASCAR background. Prior to coming to the Bay Area, Potter served as a reporter, producer and anchor on "Inside NASCAR," a national television show on TNN. Potter also served in a similar capacity on other NASCAR shows, including: "This Week in NASCAR," "Inside Winston Cup Racing" and "NASCAR Race Week." Locally, Potter has hosted a show for the last two years previewing the Winston Cup race at Sears Point Raceway on FOX Sports Net. He also does reporting work for FOX Sports Net.

"This will be our third year with the program and we hope to have some great interviews for the fans," Potter said. "This is the only chance that people in Northern California get to talk with some of racing's biggest stars."
