Martinsville, VA---Tickets for Martinsville Speedway's April 8, 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race went on sale Wednesday morning including online sales with Tickets.com. Martinsville Speedway has sold tickets online through its website www.martinsvillespeedway.com for two years but an agreement between the track and Tickets.com will give fans an improved method of purchasing tickets, according to Speedway President W. Clay Campbell. The Tickets.com system allows fans to see the row and seat number they are purchasing to determine if that is where they wish to sit. In the past, fans could only pick a section and were given the best available seat. "We believe our relationship with Tickets.com will increase our online sales and better satisfy fans," Campbell said. "Making tickets available 24 hours a day has been good for us and those who take advantage of the convenience. I believe fans will enjoy this new system even more." You can buy tickets online by visiting www.martinsvillespeedway.com and following the link to the Martinsville Speedway page at Tickets.com. Tickets for the April 8, 2001 Winston Cup race also are available by calling the speedway's toll free number at 1-877-722-3849. Tickets for Martinsville Speedway's October 14, 2001 Winston Cup Series race will go on sale in March 2001. Some fans preferred to drive to the speedway this morning to ensure getting their preferred seat. Dave Peterson who lives in northwestern Ohio drove to the area on Tuesday just to be able to purchase chair seats for he and 15 others. The trip took him 10 hours. "We love this track," Peterson said. "The first time, I came with a bubby of mine and after that my wife and seven couples have been coming together. The women like the chair seats." There is still plenty of action at Martinsville Speedway this fall with the running of the Taco Bell 300 NASCAR Late Model Stock race on Sunday, September 24, the Goody's Body Pain 200 Featherlite Modified Tour race on Saturday, September 30, and the NAPA AutoCare 500 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race on Sunday, October 1. Tickets for the Taco Bell 300 and Goody's Body Pain 200 are all unreserved. There still are great reserved seats available for the NAPA AutoCare 500 by calling the speedway's ticket office.
