SPARTANBURG, SC - Top Sportsman racers may rejoice because the tradition of contesting a Saturday evening Quick Eight will continue thanks to Matt Grillo and his Lizzard Racing Engines. In an agreement with the IHRA that was completed today, Lizzard Racing Engines will serve as the official Top Sportsman Quick Eight sponsor. The program should invoke dancing in the streets within Top Sportsman land.
Grillo just feels honored to continue the tradition.
"I couldn't think of a better way to reach our target audience," explained Grillo, whose engine shop is located in West Babylon, NY. "I am a supporter of the IHRA and I think they have an excellent program to work with. Not only am I a company owner, I am also a racer and I know the importance of such a program. I think that our sponsorship is an investment in our future."
IHRA Vice President of Marketing Aaron Polburn is relieved that the Top Sportsman racers will have a Quick Eight.
"I think I can speak wholeheartedly for the Top Sportsman racers in telling Matt Grillo 'Thank You," explained Polburn. "We came across Matt and our program matched with his objectives and it provided a natural fit. I'm happy for Lizzard Racing Engines and the Top Sportsman racers because I think we have a perfect marriage."
The terms of the purse have yet to be released, but the event will continue to be part of the Night of Fire program at all national events. For more details, stay tuned to ihra.com.
Lizzard Racing Engines has recently stepped up their marketing efforts through sponsorship of not only this program, but recently became the presenting sponsor of the CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open at Virginia Motorsports Park, the IHRA's official pre-season test session. Grillo is also a sponsor of the popular www.competitionplus.com Internet-based magazine.
