LAKEVILLE, Conn. - Lime Rock Park has a new logo, one that reflects the new direction at the "Road Racing Center of the East."
The logo complements the new attractions both on- and off-track at Lime Rock in 2000. It replaces the track's symbol that featured two IMSA GTP cars and the dual black and red lines. The new mark represents only the fourth logo since Lime Rock opened in 1957.
The logo is crescent-shaped with a green and white background and a distinctive swoosh patterned after one of the track's signature sections, the famous Big Bend corner at the end of the front straightaway. The words "Lime Rock" are in white set against a green field while "Park" is in green set against the white of Big Bend. A white scripted version of "Road Racing Center of the East" lies under Lime Rock.
"We feel the new logo represents the forward direction of the track and, at the same time, reflects the nature of Lime Rock Park," Lime Rock Park General Manager Garret Mudd said. "We wanted the logo to incorporate an element of the track itself and Big Bend is a very important facet from a racing standpoint and certainly one of the components that makes Like Rock unique. The vibrant green suggests the scenic beauty and conveys the Park-like atmosphere that people associate with Lime Rock."
Lime Rock also will be releasing event specific logos for its three major events, the Dodge Dealers Grand Prix, May 26-29; the Lime Rock Park Vintage Festival, Sept. 1-4; and the Dodge Dealers NASCAR 200 Presented by Burnham Boilers, Oct. 13-14.
The new track logo makes its "debut" in the 2000 Lime Rock Park ticket brochure that is available this week. To obtain a 2000 season ticket brochure or for more information about Lime Rock Park call 1-800-RACE-LRP.
