CENTENNIAL, Colo. (February 28, 2002)- SCCA Pro Racing Ltd. has named J. David Delaney its new Director of Development. Formerly employed by Speedvision as the Speed World Challenge Director of Sales, Delaney will resume those duties, as well as develop promotional events for the series.
"Having Dave back with the Speed World Challenge is key for its continued growth," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "Dave has been responsible for much of the sponsorship success the series has enjoyed, and will add some much needed assistance in the promotions department, working with promoters and other series on the weekend to help elevate the exposure of World Challenge and the events on which it races.
"Additionally, Dave will be working on sponsorship packages for the new WKA/SCCA Pro Racing Constructors Championship, the Pro Spec Racer series and SCCA Inc. (in conjunction with SCCA Marketing Manager Doug Reed)."
"I'm excited to continue my association with the Speed World Challenge and expand it into promotions," said Delaney. "Sales and promotions really go hand-in-hand with one another, as one of the best ways to promote a sponsor in racing is to take it to the public. We've got some exciting programs planned that will be mutually beneficial for our fans, sponsors, race tracks and teams."
Delaney came under contract by Speedvision and Wilson Motorsports to serve as Speedvision World Challenge Director of Sales in 2000. Prior to his work in motorsports, Delaney worked in our nation's defense industry and the textile business, serving as Director of Sales for Guilford Mills, Inc. in Manhattan from 1992 to 1999. Delaney will continue to work out of his office in Redding, Conn.
