INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 12, 2001 Derrick Walker, Sarah Fisher and Walker Racing have been named to the Advertising Age "Marketing 100 Class of 2001" and are the only motorsports brands to gain this prestigious honor in 2001. Walker Racing and Sarah join Dale Earnhardt (1995) and NASCAR (1998) as the only motorsports brands ever named to the "Marketing 100." In addition to Walker Racing and Sarah, the only other sports brands to be named to the list in 2001 are Lance Armstrong, Peyton Manning, Venus Williams and the Arena Football League. Advertising Age started "The Marketing 100" in 1992 to recognize companies and brands for their marketing excellence. Over the past decade, the "Marketing 100" has identified "visionary marketers and the brands that left an impression on advertising." Walker Racing's Indy Racing League sponsors have been the recipients of almost $7.5-million dollars worth of national and international exposure in 2001, with more than 195 million impressions in television, radio and print. "We appreciate the support of Advertising Age and their recognition of our efforts in marketing," said Derrick Walker. "In this very competitive market, it can be an advantage to have a different sort of product. Hopefully this will translate to increasing our partnership base in the future."
