CENTENNIAL, Colo. (February 20, 2002)--The Sports Car Club of America Inc. and Hawk Corporation (NYSE: HWK) have announced a two-year agreement naming Hawk Performance the Official Brake of the SCCA.

Born in the early 1990s as Hawk Brake, Hawk Performance has manufactured the world's top brake pads for street, performance and racing applications. In the last three years, Hawk Performance has also moved into the driveline business, acquiring Quarter Master and Tex Racing to form the Hawk Performance Group.

"The Sports Car Club of America is the most diverse and strongest motorsports membership organization in the world," said Chris DiSantis, Hawk Performance President. "We're excited about this new program, which will be beneficial to both Hawk Performance and the SCCA's 63,000-plus members."

"When we look for strategic partners for the SCCA, we don't look any further than industry leaders," said Steve Johnson, SCCA Inc. President and CEO. "Hawk Performance is the industry leader in brake pads, and we're thrilled to partner with them in what is becoming the most exciting chapter in the SCCA's 58-year history."

In addition to serving as the Official Brake of the SCCA, Hawk Performance branding will appear on all ProRally cars, SCCA official vehicles and at www.scca.org, and Hawk will also sponsor one race at the Valvoline Runoffs(r). Additional details on the program may be announced at a later date.
