DANBURY, Connecticut, November 27, 2000 -- When it comes to automotive DIY interest, it's hard to imagine people more excited about cars than the members of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). FRAM has tapped into that enthusiasm by becoming the Official Filter of the SCCA. SCCA members participate as active racers, dedicated workers and Officials and as devoted fans.
These are amateur motorsports enthusiasts, making up the largest and most respected road racing organization in the U.S., with over 56,000 members in 109 regions.
The typical SCCA member spends more than $2,100 annually on parts, maintenance, accessories and service. Moreover, as their neighborhood experts, they are the opinion leaders for countless thousands more vehicle owners who look to them for recommendations and advice.
FRAM Vice President, Jeff Bye, notes, "You'll now see FRAM sponsorships and signage at SCCA events, on vehicles and in online and print material. Add this to FRAM's involvement in NASCAR and NHRA, and you have a brand that reaches the market at its point of passion. Watch this translate to more sales at point of purchase."
"This program ushers in a new era for SCCA" commented Steve Johnson, SCCA President and CEO. " It gives the Club exposure and recognition by a major supplier and will lead to a winning partnership between our members and Fram".
The SCCA holds more than 1700 events annually, ranging from autocrosses to Performance Rallies and including major road race events such as the SCCA Runoffsâ. This event brings together the top competitors to battle for the National Championships in 24 classes and includes the FRAM GT1 Challenge title. At this year's first FRAM-sponsored challenge, 31 of the 32 entrants used FRAM filters.
