Ford Motor Company uses Mission Valley Speedway as Catalog Shoot!

PABLO, MT - The standing weekly meeting of the Mission Valley Auto Racers on Monday, June 5th, had a bit of added excitment several weeks ago! MVAR promotor, Bob Lulow informed the membership of a telephone call he had received from a public relations firm called Direct Tech Concepts out of Birmingham, Alabama.
The caller indicated that the firm had sent someone out to take a look at Mission Valley Speedway the Sunday prior to the telephone call and they felt that MVS was the perfect grass-roots type racing facility for the upcoming Ford Motor Company's racing division catalog photo shoot! The firm located the track via the internet and the Mission Valley Speedway webpage! www.pitstop.com/mvs/index.htm (Thanks Pitstop.com)
Prior speedways used by Direct Tech are the large NASCAR tracks such as Darlington and Daytona, however, the idea was born to go back to the type of small oval tracks that most top drivers started out on.
The Catalog, produced by Dick Hassall's Birmingham, Alabama firm, markets merchandise with the Ford logo. Hassell stated that he has been with Ford since their return to racing in the 1970's. The catalog in which last week's shoot will be featured, will be published sometime in late July or early August 2000. The catalogs are distributed to over a million and a half Ford customers and NASCAR racing personalities! They feature anything from sleep shirts to $600 leather Mark Martin jackets!
Several local drivers that run Ford cars had them used as backdrops with the three actor-models that modeled the Ford racing clothing. Tracy Burland's Super Stock, Corey Wolfe's Late Model, Troy Swiegerts Late Model, Carl Nordberg's Hobby Stock, Brad Lee's Hobby Stock, and Lynn Olsen's Compact car were all photographed! The Mission Mountain backdrop with its small bit of snow caps left were also a major factor in the company's dicision to use MVS for the shoot.
Needless to say, the round-about national attention that MVS will receive is a great thrill and can only help promote the only non-profit, membership ran speedway in the United States, Mission Valley Speedway!
