PRESS OFFICE CHANGES

A number of changes will take place for the 2002 season of the FIA GT and European Touring Car Championships. Patricia Kiefer, who has worked as the FIA Media Delegate over the past five years, will now be coordinating the PR and promotion of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend series for SRW Events. Jacquie Groom will take over as the FIA Media Delegate for both the FIA GT and European Touring Car Championships.

EUROSPORT SUPER RACING WEEKEND ORGANISER UPDATE

A press conference was held in Paris on March 12th, to launch the first round of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend’s second season. “ After the first year, which was one of discovery, we are moving up to second gear for 2002,” explained Bruno David, Delegated Director of Eurosport. Angelo Codignoni, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Eurosport, Stephane Ratel, promoter of the FIA GT Championship and organiser of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend and Marcello Lotti, promoter of the FIA European Touring Car Championship, were present, as well as representatives of the support races, the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup, the Renault Sport Clio Trophy and the Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy.

Mr Roland Hodel, manager of the Magny Cours circuit, which will host the first round of the 2002 season, explained that additional security procedures have been implemented at the track, including special reinforced glass to protect the marshals. He also reminded those drivers present that this would be the last time they would be using the current track, as a new layout was being planned for 2003.

TEST DAYS AT MAGNY COURS

A two-day official test for the cars entered for the 2002 season will be held on March 26th and 27th at the French track of Magny-Cours, which will also host the first event of the season on April 21st. Approximately 15 cars from the FIA GT Championship and six cars from the Lamborghini GTR Supertrophy have already confirmed their attendance.
