BFGoodrich Tires finding their niche in off-road racing
Avon, Ind. (February 4, 2002)"Put through every off road element imaginable, BFGoodrich Tires not only continue their success in Championship Off Road Racing, but they continue to use that success to develop the best tires for consumers.
In 2001, BFGoodrich provided tires for six of the eight season champions. Overall, in 2001 78 out of a possible 128 victories (Roughly 61%) in each division (eight total) were won on BFGoodrich Tires.
"BFGoodrich is pleased so many competitors choose to race on BFGoodrich tires the last couple of seasons," said Frank DeAngelo. "We have been fortunate to have several top notch teams competing on our products which has provided us with several wins and championships."
BFGoodrich's support of the CORR Lucas Oil Series extends beyond their status as the Official Tire. At each race, BFGoodrich helps drivers by supplying tires and provides support personnel who groove tires to the drivers' specifications. In 2001, BFGoodrich backed CORR drivers with $169,000 in contingency posting.
BFGoodrich Tires have been with Championship Off Road Racing since its first year in 1998, and in 2002, BFGoodrich will celebrate their fifth anniversary as the Official Tire of the Lucas Oil series. Like many of CORR's sponsors, BFG takes advantage of the rugged terrain of off road racing to develop tires that racers and everyday patrons across the country can use.
"CORR racing has provided us with an arena in which to test and sometimes develop new products. We have utilized this series to test and develop new compounds for light truck tires," said DeAngelo.
In 2001, BFGoodrich Tires utilized the off-road environment to test their latest off-road tire, the Mud-Terrain T/A KM. Several CORR drivers helped in the development of the tire by giving input and testing the new tire.
BFGoodrich will also use their fifth year as the Official Tire of the Lucas Oil Series to maintain relationships with the drivers who have played such an important part helping in the advancement of tire technology.
BFGoodrich Tires will continue to build on the associations with the CORR drivers through the years, said DeAngelo. BFGoodrich Tires is committed to be a part of the CORR Lucas Oil Series family as it continues to prosper.
"Our relationship with CORR has been cost effective and continues to provide us with exposure and promotional opportunities," said DeAngelo. "Overall, I'd say we feel CORR is a good marketing partner of BFGoodrich and we plan to continue supporting the CORR Lucas Oil Series as they continue to grow."
