Dec. 4, 2000: CHEVY TO LEAD OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY ACROSS COUNTRY . . . Chevrolet will drive the 2002 Olympic Torch Relay to hometowns across the country, beginning Dec. 4, 2001. Chevrolet, along with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and sponsorship partner Coca-Cola, announced today the route the Olympic Flame will travel on its way to Salt Lake City, Utah, home of the XIX Olympic Winter Games. Chevrolet will lead the 2002 Olympic Torch Relay through 80 U.S. cities and hundreds of hometowns across the country, including Detroit, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Chicago and New York. "Chevrolet's involvement in the Olympic Torch Relay is an opportunity to share the excitement of the Olympic spirit with hometowns across the country," said Mac Whisner, Chevrolet director of truck advertising and promotion.
