DETROIT (September 22, 1999) - CART Licensed Products, the licensing and merchandising arm of Championship Auto Racing Teams, announced today that it has reached an agreement with Dallas-based Team Mouse, Inc., to produce and distribute computer accessories and home products that will feature the CART logo, as well as the drivers and teams of the FedEx Championship Series.
The announcement was made by Jonathan T. Frank, president of CLP.
The agreement runs through the 2001 race season and Team Mouse will provide or produce a wide range of computer-related and home décor products.
"Technologically advanced products are what CART and open-wheel racing are about and we believe this relationship is a perfect match," said Frank, whose licensing group is headquartered in Atlanta. "With the explosive growth of the computer industry and the use of computers by an ever-growing number of consumers, we believe this to be a great opportunity for both CART and Team Mouse."
Team Mouse will create several CART-identified computer products including mouse pads, screen savers, CD wallets, computer cases, computer mouses, memo boards, screen frames and computer wrist rests. Additionally, consumers will soon be able to purchase a line of non-computer-related home products such as place mats, coasters, aprons, chip clips, oven mitts and tailgate sets, all produced through the Team Mouse relationship.
"This is another example of our effort to reach out to consumers through a non-traditional means and we believe there is strong potential for us to establish an even greater presence for CART, our teams and drivers through this program," said Frank.
