Holmatro Extends Relationship With Championship Auto Racing Teams Through 2003

DETROIT (November 16, 2001) - Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. announced today that Holmatro Incorporated has extended its relationship as Official Supplier, Official Rescue Tool of CART, and Official Rescue Tool of the Simple Green CART Safety Team through the end of the 2003 racing season.

As part of its ongoing relationship with CART, Holmatro provides CART with powerful, lightweight extrication and rescue equipment vital to maintaining the expertise of the Safety Team, making it the best and most advanced unit in motorsport. The tools greatly reduce the time involved in extricating a driver from the damaged cockpit of a Champ Car.

"All of us at CART are truly excited to continue the partnership with Holmatro Rescue Tools," said CART Senior Vice President of Marketing, Rich Henley. "Holmatro has been a long-standing partner with CART since 1990 and has provided a considerable amount of leadership in ensuring that our Safety Team has the best rescue equipment available to do its job quickly and safely. The equipment and technical support provided by Holmatro Rescue Tools allows CART to remain at the forefront of motorsports safety."

Holmatro Incorporated has been manufacturing high performance rescue tools in its Glen Burnie, Md. facilities for over 14 years, while its sister company, BV Holmatro in The Netherlands has over 30 years of experience in the rescue tool industry. Rescue and emergency services personnel around the world depend on Holmatro's technology to make their critical tasks easier, safer and more reliable. Holmatro offers product, training, service, and support to customers in more than 120 countries.

"Holmatro looks forward to the continued relationship with CART and the Simple Green Safety Team," said Giff Swayne, President of Holmatro, Inc. "Our long history with CART has provided Holmatro with insight into the direction that car manufacturers are going with respect to construction materials and techniques as well as new safety restraint systems. The rescue challenges that the Simple Green CART Safety Team face on the track when dealing with the fastest race cars on earth translate to what the Fire Department may see in street cars in the near future. Holmatro is constantly reviewing these developments to be sure that our product range can meet the rescuer's needs, both on and off the track, now and in the future."

Beyond its official designation, Holmatro Rescue Tools are the products of choice for members of the Simple Green CART Safety Team. Many of the members of the Safety Team work as paramedics and firefighters for local fire and rescue teams throughout the United States and Canada when they're not working CART events.

"I'm just so happy to have Holmatro back again," said Lon Bromley, CART director of safety. "I consider it to be the best hydraulic rescue equipment on the market. It's a privilege to work with such professional people as the Holmatro staff."

The 2001 FedEx Championship Series visits seven countries and four continents during the season and climaxes with the season-ending Marlboro 500 Presented by Toyota on Sunday, Nov. 4 at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Thanks to a partnership between Marlboro, Toyota, CART and California Speedway, the winner of the season finale will collect $1 million, one of the largest paydays in all of motorsports. An additional $1 million, as well as the prestigious Vanderbilt Cup will be awarded to the driver who wins the FedEx Championship Series championship.
