Lola Cars International LTD announced today that Jeff Swartwout has joined the Lola Group as Vice President of Lola for North America. Jeff will be responsible for sales and customer relations in the United States, Canada and Mexico, based out of offices in Indianapolis and working closely with his new colleagues at Lola's headquarters in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire UK.
Jeff, aged 49, was previously President of Reynard North America, having worked in many series of open wheel racing in the United States, including a chief mechanic role in winning Indy Car teams in the 1980's. After a spell away for the industry, he became a founder member of Reynard North America in 1993, and helped build that company's US sales and distribution system, which will be one area of his new responsibilities for Lola.
Dan Partel has now become a consultant to the Lola group for the immediate future, as he hands over his role to Jeff Swartwout, after three years in which Lola's US market share has grown significantly.
David Bowes, Lola's Chief Executive, welcomed Jeff into the Lola group:
"We are a company whose successes in the US market go back over 40 years, including wins in the Indy 500, the Indy Car and then the Champ Car series, in sports cars and on every type of race track, from ovals to street circuits. This spread of Lola's activity places an increasing emphasis on not just sales but also customer support, and Jeff has proved himself in both areas".
Jeff Swartwout said "It is a challenging time to be joining Lola, with many new opportunities across North America. I have competed against Lola in the recent past and know them to be great competitors -- now I look forward to working with everyone at Lola to build upon what has been achieved already".
