CLEVELAND (January 5, 2000) -- IMG Motorsports and Clear Channel Communications, Inc., jointly announced today an agreement for Clear Channel to become the lead promotional sponsor of the 2000 Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland.

The Grand Prix, presented by Firstar, will be promoted throughout the region by Clear Channel's stable of radio stations. In Northeastern Ohio, Clear Channel will put forth a major promotional and marketing campaign on the following radio stations:

WTAM-AM 1100 News/Talk/Sports
WGAR-FM 99.5 Country
WMJI-FM 105.7 Oldies/Full-service
WMMS-FM 100.7 Rock
WMVX-FM 106.5 Hits of the '70s, '80s and '90s
WAKS-FM 104.9 Contemporary Hits

The promotional arrangement will consist of multiple on-air advertising and promotional campaigns, Grand Prix updates, on-air interviews, live broadcasts from Burke Lakefront Airport and Internet promotions.

"Everyone knows events the size of the Grand Prix feed off of people in the seats, excitement in the air and talk around the town," commented IMG Vice President Denny Young. "Clear Channel, through its arsenal of radio stations, will make sure this is the biggest promotional effort ever undertaken by the Grand Prix."

"This is the first deal of this nature that we have done in Cleveland, and we intend to make it the biggest event promotion we've ever done," stated Clear Channel Communications Vice President and Cleveland Area Manager Jim Meltzer. "To bring all of our stations together on a single event is unprecedented. However, the Grand Prix is such a great event. We not only wanted to be a part of this race, but we needed to be a part of this race -- it's that important."
