CHAMP CAR WORLD SERIES HIRES GARRET MUDD AS VICE-PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
INDIANAPOLIS (January 24, 2006) -- Former Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Executive Garret Mudd was announced today as the new Vice-President of Marketing for the Champ Car World Series.
Mudd, who comes to Champ Car after serving at the SCCA as its Vice-President of Marketing for the past four seasons covering the SCCA and its subsidiary SCCA Pro Racing, will report to Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Will Wilson. He took over as the Acting President of SCCA Pro Racing in November, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the sanctioning body which includes the SPEED World Challenge Championship.
"Garret is a great addition to our team," said Champ Car Executive Vice President Will Wilson. "He brings tremendous experience and contacts within motor-sports marketing coupled with a strong drive to succeed. He will have an immediate positive impact on our efforts."
Before joining the SCCA staff, where he worked alongside current Champ Car President Steve Johnson, Mudd was the former General Manager of Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut and also served as the Executive Director of the Sprint PCS Grand Prix of Minnesota. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mudd began his motorsports career with the original Denver Grand Prix.
"This is an exciting time to be joining Champ Car and I'm looking forward to working along side everyone that has helped generate such positive momentum," Mudd said. "The Champ Car World Series and Atlantic Championship represent some of the most compelling open wheel racing anywhere in the world and have clearly connected with fans on many levels. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to help continue to build the Champ Car brand throughout the world and to introduce even more people to the Champ Car experience."
"We're very lucky to have someone of Garret's vision and credentials to help steer Champ Car's strategic marketing," said Champ Car President Steve Johnson. "He has proven himself in every task he has taken on and will be a tremendous asset to the organization."
