GE Sealants & Adhesives To Sponsor Mclaughlin For Charlotte Race
CHARLOTTE, NC (May 24, 2001) GE Sealants & Adhesives Director of Marketing David Pirkle announced today that the company has agreed to sponsor the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR Busch Series team of Mike McLaughlin for one race in the Carquest Auto Parts 300 Saturday. The GE division, based in Huntersville, NC is the first GE business unit to enter into a NASCAR or any other racing or sporting sponsorship.
"Our association with NASCAR is a natural extension of our recent entry into the motorsports arena with DIRT Motorsports," said Pirkle. "The Busch Series sponsorship moves us to the next level. We are excited to be working with Joe Gibbs Racing and are exploring our marketing options by being involved in motorsports."
In sponsoring McLaughlin, GE Sealants and Adhesives will be associated with a former Charlotte Busch Series winner. McLaughlin captured the checkered flag in October 1998 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. McLaughlin currently stands in fifth position in the season long Busch Series Point standings. The team has operated all season without a primary sponsor.
The # 20 Pontiac will be emblazoned with the logo "XST eXtreme Silicone Technology," which represents the company's creation of a new category within the sealant market, a truly paintable modified silicone formula. XST eXtreme provides customers with all the protection and durability of a premium silicone sealant, plus the added benefit of being able to paint over the sealant with either latex or oil based paints.
